Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Tongs

Ingredients

  • 1 pound sirloin steak cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon neutral oil
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 head butter lettuce leaves separated
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 lime cut into wedges

Instructions

  • Combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, and black pepper. Add beef and marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear until browned, shaking the pan to cook evenly.
  • Remove from heat once beef is just cooked through.
  • Serve beef in lettuce cups with red onion and lime.

Notes

  • For extra brightness, add a drizzle of lime juice over the beef before serving.
  • Butter lettuce works best, but romaine hearts are a crisp alternative.
